April is National Occupational Therapy Month
Monday, April 1, 2019, During the month of April, the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) celebrates Occupational Therapy Month and more than 213,000 occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, and students who work nationwide create fuller lives for clients and their families.
they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of daily activities (occupations). OT practitioners enable people of all ages to live life to its fullest by helping them promote health, and prevent—or live better with—injury, illness, or disability.
OT practitioners have a holistic perspective, in which the focus is on adapting the environment to fit the person, and the person is an integral part of the therapy team. It is a nearly 100-year-old evidence-based profession deeply rooted in science. Practice areas are Children and Youth; Mental Health; Rehabilitation, Disability, and Participation; Healthy Living; Aging; and Work and Industry. WESTARM Physical Therapy & Homecare of Lower Burrell, PA, in conjunction with April being National Occupational Therapy Month will provide a free presentation on Tuesday, April 30 at their Cheswick facility (new Cheswick Plaza) at 1316 Pittsburgh Street, Cheswick 15024. This event is open to the general public and will start at 6:00 pm.
The presentation, "Treatment Options for Hand & Thumb Arthritis", will discuss how you can take control of your arthritis through a multi-faceted approach of conservative treatment options. WESTARM licensed Occupational Therapists / Certified Hand Therapists Colby Neubauer and Jennifer Ravotti will be the speakers.
